Revival attempt of US30 Dragstrip (Merrillville)

This looks to have been solidifying recently with a proper website now up and agreements for the land to be bought from the current developer. I'm interested to see where this goes. I don't have high hopes for a complete functioning dragstrip but admire the effort to keep the old dragstrip from turning into condos. They need supporters and city approval before anything really starts to happen. Tons more info on the website:

Open Bracket racing on One weekend day and Open Test and Tune on Friday night we will also be proposing the following:


1. Garage Condominiums ranging for oversized 2 1/2 Car Garages to over 1,000 Square feet. All Garages will be Air Conditioned and Heated. The area will be secured with a fence and keypad entrance. No more towing hassles or parking your daily driver in the driveway so your race car can stay in the garage.. It's just like keeping a boat at a Marina, just drive there, get in and GO.


2. Weekly Exclusive Membership Program. Be part of the only exclusive Dragracing Membership program in the country allowing member Only access during the week. Just like a member's only Golf Country Club but for racers.


3. Team Racing on one weekend day. Get your 4 best racing friends together and form your own team, get your own sponsors, shirts and car emblems. Team Trophies and end of the year banquet. Golf and Bowling have leagues why not drag racers.

Interesting concept. But I don't any real racer with the money for a condo at the track would be enticed for 1/8th mile

Yes, and now because of just how fast cars are getting we want 1/2 mile tracks too.
