You could say that. Although I've been making catch cans and things like that for years..not sure there is much to gamble on. They work and they are inexpensive.

Also I don't see why everyone needs to point that pun out. It gets old. very old.

Most of mine I sell as "universal" be aside everyone wants to mount it Ina different location
If you want one specific for your car, you can design it out of cardboard and k can build off that or you can bring your car by.
Let me know I would love to get into that market

I call it a catch can. If you want to call it an air/oil separator that's ok. As far as I know they are one in the same

Air/oil separators have convoluted flow paths/stagnating chambers or a cyclonic action.
Both let oil droplets fall out of suspension. Cyclonic is better

if youve seen compressed air systems with the in line air/oil seperator/filter, they are small round with a removable lower bowl
works much better than just gravity seperation as the higher the gas/oil mist velocity the better it works where gravity is dependant on slowing down the air to allow gravity to do it.

for systems that use the oil, yes (dry sump engine oiling systems/drain to a hydraulic tank, etc.
alot are just flat bottom cylinders, the main thing is introducing the air/oil mist at a tangential flow direction. your using centripetal force to apply more "gravity" to the oil to collect on the OD tha just gravity itself could do.

All the other air/oil seperator so see for sale all look like normal catch cans. Probably just a marketing gimmick

well they are....gravity separators.... by slowing down the air flow in the large chamber, the oil can fall out of suspension to the bottom, problem is that at high volume gravity doesn't work fast enough so oil mist is able to escape.
