Looking for a good drag radial

Right now I have the Nitto NT05....I can't get traction at the track in first or 2nd....so I'm looking into a better drag radial. What are big power guys using? Something that's good for the street but will also be great for the 1/4. I'm over 500tq right now. What do the guys making big number run?

The NT05R was a good tire on my cobra, definitely room for improvement tho. The toyo r888 is fantastic from everything ive heard, and its what I was gonna run on the supra. New owner says theyre great.

Had no problems with the NT05r in the cobra.. 1st gear was kinda useless, but 2nd and up were great.. this was a whipple charged 600whp setup as well.

Other than that, run an et street 2 if you can.

I am currently running the Toyo Proxes R888 and love them. I came from the Nitto 555R's and the traction is much better IMO.

It is not the softest compound drag radial out, but makes a great all around street tire. They have enough wet traction that you won't shit your pants when driving in the rain, the sidewall is stiff enough where you can have confidence in hard turns, and have pretty damn good traction when the tires have some heat in them.

Are you running the NT05R, or the street tire NT05? Any suspension mods?

R888 are good but the TQ DR is much better traction wise, as good as the MTs for sure

The new Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radial is excellent. I think it still only comes in a 26" tho, but it works great. Next I'd try the Pro's. Never really seen people liking the Hooser drag radials because they don't last very long. I'd stay away from anything Nitto, they don't hook even if you superglued them to the road.
