Plasti dip on wheels

Im already on my second set of chrome rims for my regal. Was thinking about plasti dipping them just for the winter. I am not big into the look though.
I just have a few questions.
#1 is it adequate protection against the salt for the winter?
#2. Can you do the insides as well or will it throw off the balance?
#3. are there certain brands and are they better than others?

I think you'll be fine through a winter.
Yes you can do the inside. It won't throw anything off.
Original Plast-dip is the still the best IMO.

What do you think is the right amount of cans for 4-16" wheels inside and out? I know some people on youtube were putting about 5 coats on

I did 20" rims and I think 4 pretty heavy coats and 1 light. I used about 4 cans. Looked awesome for like 3 months.

I used 2-3 cans to do the outside of 4-18" rims with 3-4 coats. I'd say 6 cans should be plenty

i used 1 can for two 16" wheels inside and out.
coats are a bit thin ( 4 on the face of the rim and 3 in the barrel )

i had no issues through the winter.

That's what I am saying. 1 season of salt eats up these rims. $50 in plasti dip is cheaper than $600 for a set of rims. As soon as the salt washes off the street, the plasti dip comes off.

I gave up on chrome rims for the gs after my first set, insane how much you can clean and wax and then poof, still peels like hell

I'd search for people with plasti on their chrome holding up to salt, but im sure 100% of those were done for purely looks

they probably make silver plasti dip so it would look stockish, i did 4 coats of black and 2 coats of clear and mine look good still after 4 months it took about 1 can per coat on 4 rims so 4 cans of black and like 1.5 cans of clear

I have had my wheels plasti-dipped on my truck for 2.5 years now. Shit is awesome! Should be perfect to protect the wheels over the winter.

pepboys sells every color dipyourcar has and its cheaper. I used 4 cans total on my old set of 18s. I made sure they were thick coats so it would peel off easy. Lasted 2 years then I decided to powdercoat them. Now they have the metalizer and glossifiers that look awesome if done right.
