10-14 mpg empty, loaded, uphill and even down hill, change out y pipe from headers to cat back and pick up 15-25 whp and little better mileage. Tank on wheels

I went with the PSD when I picked one up. I researched the older V10s. And they had cylinder head/spark plug issues (some). But then again some people love them. A long time truck mechanic relative of mine warned me against buying the V10. Just my 0.02 cents

There were quite a few head/spark plug issues on the earlier 5.4's and V10's apparently.

Same head/spark plug issues as any other Triton motor. I've known plenty of people with them and swear by them minus the mileage.

As I recall, the head/spark issues are really only on the first few years of the Triton motor, and anything beyond is good. Do your research though, I can't remember which year they finally fixed the issue.

I loved my Excursion. The power train is solid. As others have said, they chew through front suspension components and that gets really expensive really quick so if you see one that's had front end work done make sure you don't write that work off. I think it was a few thousand in front end work mine had.

You won't get over 10mpg. Accept it; embrace it. My Excursion taught me to drive like an old man and basically idle off the line and still: 10mpg.

If you get one keep in mind that for very little money you can put the 2005+ headlights and grill on it and it will look 200% better.

For the snow it's stupid fun to drive. I used to go into parking lots that had been plowed and charge into the 5 foot tall snow drifts. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get an airbag in the face.
