I have a rich co-worker that has a friend with one of those. He's been offered over a million more than a couple times and won't sell it. Unreal how fast those things were. That motor was no joke. Rated between 420-430hp but making ~600

what year does he have?

67 are the couple million dollar plus cars...

68 & 69 are under a million, and if he was offered that he should take it and fucking run.

I love the octane rating plaques in them by the shifters.

my old boss has a 67 teal 427 4 speed with the side pipes numbers matching with like 30k miles on it, i had no idea it was worth that much I think he paid like 150-200k for it from barret jackson

was it an L88 car though?

there was only 20 of them... and they seemed to have all been at least a million bucks in the past 6-7 years

Not sure what the l88 designates, it was the same 427 4 speed that the yenko cars came with, he had to do some sort of spacer head gaskets on it to be able to run 93 because the compression was so high it would detonate just driving around town he said

L88's compression was 12.5:1 I believe. CanAm spec heads, solid lifters, and fan shroud/choke/radio/AC & heater deletes were the majority of the tweaks

if it's a real 67 L88 it's at least a $3 million dollar car...

I'm sure it's real it's numbers matching and everything on it is original, I just had no idea it was worth that much, he probably has another 20+ mil in classic cars, I may see him tomorrow I'll see if he minds if take pictures of some of them, his jet is worth about 6mil so a 3 million dollar corvette isn't out of the question lol

N it was the same 427 4 speed that the yenko cars came with,

Most COPO and Yenkos Camaro came with the L72 427/435hp steel headed engine. Most Corvette had this or the L71 which had the tri power carb set up.

The L89 was the aluminum head optioned 427.

The L88 was the production engine that was a copy of the CamAm engine with upgraded cumbustion chamber aluminum heads.

There is a current offering of the L88 engine through Chevy Performance Parts now.
