Not happy with the Dip, what did I do wrong?

Plasti-dipped the wheels on the GTP. I cleaned them with a degreaser for about an hour, blew em dry, taped em off and put on 4 coats....

The issue is the texture, feels like fucking sand paper... No Idea what I did wrong. Pics later

Did it in my garage. Its air conditioned yet I had the door open. Half the drive way is shaded so id say no it wasn't humid at all. I did the coats 30 Mins a piece and 4I hours after last...

I have to say... my plastidip job on the mustang is degrading. The dust from the Brembos and the washing at the auto carwash she gets is putting a real beating on them.

i did mine last year and did 3 coats pretty heavy and they came out pretty smooth. it will never be smooth like it was painted tho so if your looking for that feel/look you wont get it. but other than that make sure u do a fairly heavy coat and keep the can a good distance away.

Something u used or how u prepped all you can do is retry

Purple power rinse off with water let air dry then paint

Did mine outside in sun in gravel done in 4 hours do coats 15 minutes apart no more no less until coated

That's my plan too, eventually. I used it more as a temp way to see if the wheels actually looked good in black. THEY DO, now I can commit to powder coating easily when the time comes.

how heavy were the coats. and its untreated, not like your paint that has a clearcoat and wax on it. i do believe they make a treatment for it to smooth it out but i think you can only get that online.

i did a lot of light coats. just enough to still see color of rims through the dip first two then got a little heavier on the last coat or two to cover everything

This stuff is great I had a run on the rim stick my finger it while it was wet sprayed over the top of my finger mark still cant see where I did it

I used 2 1/2 cans total

we stripped sanded and actually sprayed paint on them. I might do that again, but with my laziness I might just have em coated
