The Ford F-150 Lightning was a high-performance on-road pickup truck that existed solely to do donuts and sing songs of eight cylinders. And it was wonderful, and we miss it. But even as everyday Ford trucks get faster, there’s no real 2017 Lightning. So a dealer in Georgia is making its own.

Car dealerships make their own “special edition” vehicles all the time. More often then not, they’re laughably lame. That does not appear to be the case with this 650-horsepower side-exit-exhaust’d single-cab monster.

Earlier this week, Pioneer Ford posted its second “Lightning Tribute” on its Facebook page to overwhelmingly positive response. Apparently the first sold before it could be listed online. And indeed, the spec sheet sounds legit.

I don't think 2nd gen Lightnings had upgraded brakes over the standard F150. I'm sure the brakes on the 2017 are not bad. But an upgrade would be nice. But the cost is a big factor in that.

Brakes gen 2 Lightning are from a
F-250 Super Duty truck ( 4.0 mm thicker then F-150) front:12.1in twin-piston calipers. Rear 13.1 inches.*

Ya, I was just about to come in and say I looked and was incorrect.

The upgrade in power has nothing to do with the brakes. Those wheels and tires probably hurt braking performance more than anything. And if owners are doing really high speeds all the time, they will find the point where they need a brake upgrade. lol

Color matched mirrors and grill and is about all that stands out thats actually really damn close.

I never had color matched mirrors on my '94.
I will say this about Red Gen 1's, 93 and 95 were the Cardinal Red or any other name they called it = same color.
The 94 Reds were Crimson Red. It is darker. Wonder if the 94's had Black mirrors? Never thought about it. Had the truck since 2003 and that is the way it came.
Also, my exhaust has always come out the side of the truck under the little "Lightning" sticker on the Gen 1 photo, same as the new one's location.
