It was mainly the rear tire size for pulling a bigger plow if you're planning to disc a small food plot. That and for loose terrain.

Back before gas prices went nutty in 2008 the twin turbo V6 Ford was working on was called the Twin Force. That sounded so much meaner. Then 2008 happened, everybody stopped buying big engines and Ford decided to emphasize the fact that the engine had V8 power with V6 fuel economy and called it the Ecoboost much to the dismay of basically everyone.

I agreed at the time. Now, I'm happy the marketing team did their job well, because they are EcoBoosting all things. Glad I was able to get into a twin turbo motor for so cheap

Dad's 3.5 CCSB gets about 24 highway and the higher side of 18 city. But it's also a 2wd truck and has a hard tonneau

High teens still doesn't impress me much out of anything with a semi-modern smallblock. Shit I got 16 out of a Vortec 5.7 in my 1997 Suburban lol.

I still swing off the EcoDiesel's hard, they just need to up the towing capacity. My friend Ryan has one. ext. cab 6.5 bed 4x4. Has a topper on it with drawers in the back full of 400ish pounds of tools (union electrician). Truck has a 50 horse tune and EGR delete now but even before then it saw 24-25 MPG average pretty split city/highway. Last month we towed a 4x4 ford ranger home on a 2 axle car hauler from central Indiana and averaged 21 MPG on the return trip. 140 miles or so. That was damn impressive to me.

I think if they could re-calibrate the transmission for towing, and give it a shorter rear drive, it would probably tow better, but lose some economy. The transmission gearing seems to be the same as the gas vehicles

I mean, with 8 gears how much tweaking do you really need to do to transmission gearing... Hemi trucks deliver low 20's if you drive them nicely and they can also tow 10,000+ with the exact same transmission.

I had always assumed that the programming and shift pattern was different for each application, but maybe not?

Door-to-door commute today on a fresh tank of 93. These vehicles all need boost gauges. Stay out of boost, get MPGs.

What rear gearing does your 150 have?

My dad has a gauge, with 3.55's, and it's damn near impossible to stay out of boost it seems.

Damn, you're much lighter on the pedal than me. It's honestly hard to stay out of the boost, and I was trying

On my twin-scroll EB 2.0 it's nearly impossible to stay out of boost. I tried real hard once, and got 32 mixed mpg. Regular average is 25 mpg. Ecoboost is more llike EcoLOLbooooost.
