um guys. am i allowed to think the IKE GAUNTLET TEST is BS?

it's at altitudes 99% of us will never see, let alone have our vehicles at.

the test is for forced induction vehicles to be FUCKING AWESOME AT.

the start is at NINE THOUSAND FUCKING FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL

im super impressed that the NA vehicles do as well as they do at such an insane altitude... no shit the turbo vehicles do so well

Can the 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6.2L V8 beat or match the 0-60 MPH time put up by the 2017 F-150 EcoBoost V6? Keep in mind that we do all of our testing at a mile above sea level (with approximately 17% less air density).

The big 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 in this Silverado produces 420 hp @ 5,600 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque @ 4,100 rpm, just like it did over the previous couple of years. In this Silverado LTZ model, the engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This truck is also equipped with a towing package, which gives it a 3.42 rear differential ratio.

Lack of a turbocharger or supercharger does hurt a bit at a mile above sea level. Still, this engine makes a lot more horsepower than the latest 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in the F-150. We are talking about a 45 horsepower advantage for the V8.

someone line these things up at an altitude that matters to most of the buyers. k thanks bye.

It's ok, when using V8 like power going UP, the V8 got better fuel economy than the TTV6, which is the issue many have... When you use it like a V8, it gets V8 like fuel economy.

I was always told that the air density concern occurs equally to turbo and N/A vehicles. Even the forced induction cars have less air to be able to compress. Can't remember where I heard/read that though

again, pretty BS. because i'd bet at sea level or near it, where most of the country resides.... the ecoboost would get similar mpg to the 6.2 towing.

i dont believe that.

just look at DA calculators... if you have a boosted car the DA changes barely as much as an NA vehicle.

One of the big knocks of the EcoBoost is towing MPGee's. They're in boost a lot and get shit mileage

I understand, the point being that many people have found out in the real world, when you use it like a V8, it gets V8 like mileage. Whether it be at 0ft above sea level or as high as they were.

This is true. But the marketing doesn't show that.

They were going to be called Twin Force is something like that, but went with EcoBoost. Probably ended up for the best.

I like my EcoBoost, but agreed, there's nothing Eco about it It sure is quick though

Huh, had always heard that the EB's got significantly less real world MPG's towing, against their GM counterparts.

I remember tearing apart a 3.8 in autos in high school, and putting it back together. Was surprised it had hydraulic roller rockers and a forged cam. But somehow only made like 130 HP
