The long dormant 3G LT-5 was finally completed and put on the dyno. Lingenfelter Chief Engineer Graham Behan was Lotus Project person on the original C4 ZR-1 in the 80's-90's. At the 25th Anniversary Gathering for the C4 ZR-1, he revealed a running version of one of two motors developed nearly 25 years ago. 528chp/430lbft from a 5.7L NA motor.
Here's the article on Corvette Online. If you scroll down, you'll see motor on engine dyno. It will be installed in a 93 ZR-1 as a rolling example.

With the prototype cams they could have spun it to ~8K according to the article. If they were still making power at that point it would have possibly been a 1HP/L 5.7L engine and would have been in a production car. Shame it never came to be.

Also, why in their right fucking mind did they sell the VTEC stuff to Honda? With as big as they are and as many locations as they had, they could have easily applied it just like Honda did.

It's just like GM to kill or sell a technology/architecture just before it's about to take off or get better. Time and again they've done it.
The GM Powertrain HQ has a display of all GM engines ever built. The LT-5 is conspicuously absent from that display. Part of the culture that ultimately brought GM to the government's teller window begging for a withdrawal.
The only stock motor/drivetrain vehicle to set multiple endurance and distance world records and they just disown it. However, GM has copyrighted the LT-5 engine designation. Who knows?

soooo yours saying the vettes could have had vtec before vtec? lol

In a crude sense, YES. Basically the system Lotus came up w replaced the secondary runner system on the 2G LT-5. It also eliminated 8 injectors providing a straighter shot at the valve and eliminating the contortions airflow goes through w the original LT-5.
