Bring battery inside if its going to sit. Tender wont keep it warm. And drain the IC and just run water and water wetter in the summer.

What?? You can run water in an intercooler?? Would it over heat?

I really only drive the car until October. After October 31 it stays in garage under storage insurance.

I know it's been cold, but I never heard of a battery freezing. Or properly mixed coolant for that matter.

I checked the coolant temps of my intercooler and realized they barely get warm when at the drag strip. Unless you are road racing for long periods of time, there's no need for straight water.

Coolant is a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. antifreeze is used to guess what......drumroll please.......stop the water in the mixture from freezing.

so if you only use the car in warm months use water. then store in a nice warm place for the colder months.

I'll be doing this soon and have a question. Did you just use rtv between the sc inlet/adapter plate/throttle body? I know N* tb has that rubber gasket pressed in there and I'm not aware of any gaskets for the adapter plate.

Don't look into it, just run a 50/50 mix of water antifreeze. If you forget to drain it EVERY winter it'll freeze and ruin shit. There are zero realistic benefits to running just water. Also, every car ever made that has a working battery tender on it and a battery that isn't 20yrs old will be perfectly fine all winter long.

Why are you draining it? There's no reason to drain it. Just leave it alone and get a new battery tender since yours probably isn't working.

Plus most tracks dont want you having antifreeze in the tracks at all. Too hard to clean up if you drop it. But most around here dont give a shit

You'll never melt a hose at the track. The IC system barely gets hot.

I've been taking my cars to tracks for 10+ years. Never heard them comment about the coolant.

I've had two leaks with the IC system in the last 6 years. Both were the core leaking into the engine.

Stuff around the IC hosing gets hot. Plenty of non 3800 guys have had it happen.

And its always been a NHRA rule. But lots of tracks have looked passed it on street cars

Yes it was rtv. I remember I had to scrape it off with a razor blade.
