Ok so not sure if anyone has ever heard of doing this before or if im the first person to actually do this..? I have a 2001 Firebird with a 3800 all last year i sprayed the car with a dual stage nitrous kit (200hp estimated) never tuned it just ran 110 and it help up until the very last track event of the year. It backfired and I bent a valve so i finally got around to fixing the head (9 months later) so this is what i did and where my problem comes into play.

I used to have a built GTP that constantly broke so i have all these performance parts for a 3800 laying around so I dropped the motor in the firebird, and instead of putting a set of stock N/A heads on the car I put my Built Ported GTP heads on with 1.9 rockers, headers, ported my lower intake very minimal just to remove the roughness, added a direct port nitrous kit where the injectors would have went in the intake, moved the injectors to the heads, head studded it, double roller, etc.

Finished the car started it, it was fine went to drive it and if driving normally the car runs fine. When WOT the car wont shift, Lacks power, misfires. I had my buddy with HP tuners look at it and the minute the car is floored spark knock maxes out.... We added 20% more fuel and removed 8 degrees of timing and it barely made a dent in the problem. Only lower the spark knock to about 10 degrees instead of 15+

Does anyone have any idea on what could possibly be going on?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Not looking for peoples sarcasm or bullshit I just want help, Thanks

103's or ngk equiv gapped at .040 and read/change em often.

its sounding like a coil got cracked or something for that misfire.

if the dbl roller was installed straight up and the cam and crank sensor are good then valve timing probably isnt it.

doing a case learn and watching the misfire counts might help you narrow down the problem cylinders.

Its not missing, it feels like it is because its spark knock is so high. driving normal its perfect. Would deleting the EGR have something to do with this? Also what if i switched to a stock AC Delco plug for the car or would the 103's be best?

There is a tps its just built into the throttle body, make sure it's reading, I have a few spair dbw throttle body's if you need one
i believe those use a unique tb vs the l26/32

i think you can swap the TAC module but the sensor traces will remain with the TB

what you have is sounding like a misfire and/or the trans on its way out (not to mention no shift adaptive learned yet)

intermittent hickups/glitches are becoming more common as the connector terminals get loose after repeated service. double check things
if your so sure the coils ignition system arent the problem

you probably shoulda installed the chain 2* retarded like the oem l36/26 or hell even 4* if ya check valve clearance.

monitor misfires and see which cylinder/s get the highest average counts

id still say try swapping out parts and doing testdrives

which sucks cause those things are annoying unless you leave the cowl off

I cut the cowl apart with a sawzall. Makes working on a motor half covered alot easier
